Summer Holidays Roar to Life with Dino Dig at The Mall 17&Central
A Prehistoric Welcome
This summer, The Mall 17&Central in Walthamstow was transformed into a prehistoric playground, as we brought our Dino Dig experience to life for families throughout the holidays. From the moment visitors stepped into the centre, they were greeted by a fully themed jungle expedition zone — complete with lush foliage bunting, towering 2D dinosaur cut-outs, a themed archway, and our expedition counter, ready for eager young explorers to sign in.
Fossil Excavation Fun
Two costumed Dino Rangers welcomed families and set the scene for an unforgettable mission: to uncover ancient fossils and become official Dino Rangers. At the heart of the experience was our hands-on fossil excavation table, where children used brushes to carefully uncover hidden treasures buried in the sand. Each young palaeontologist worked through their Fossil Finders worksheet, logging their discoveries before earning their official Dino Ranger button badge.
A Jurassic Meet-and-Greet
The final surprise was a meet-and-greet with our incredibly lifelike baby velociraptor puppet. This cheeky prehistoric guest had families snapping photos, sharing laughs, and creating memories to treasure.
The Dinosaur Trail Adventure
But the adventure didn’t stop there. Across the centre, families followed our Dinosaur Trail, using printed maps to track down colourful window vinyl dinosaurs hidden in different locations. Each stop revealed a fun prehistoric fact, with completed maps making the perfect keepsake of the day.
A Roaring Success
The event was a huge hit with shoppers, creating an exciting buzz in the centre and giving families a free, engaging activity to enjoy during the summer break. We loved seeing children of all ages — and plenty of grown-ups — getting stuck into the dig, posing for photos, and proudly showing off their Dino Ranger badges.
Another brilliant summer holiday activation in partnership with The Mall 17&Central, proving once again that interactive, themed experiences are the perfect way to surprise, delight, and keep families coming back for more.
